Long Term Exchanges (3 months – 1 year)
Long term exchanges take place with a range of countries and can be from 3 months to a year. Visits are reciprocal, with participants exchanging homes as well as jobs, giving you the opportunity to take your family with you. You will be expected to undertake all the duties that your exchange partner would normally do.
A longer term exchange gives you the opportunity to become a full member of a school community in another country, learn different ways of doing things and bring this experience back to your own situation. It is an opportunity for refreshment and reflection as well as a new challenge. The length of the exchange means that you have the opportunity to see more of the country you are visiting at weekends and holiday time, and the exchange nature keeps living costs down.
Long term relationships between schools can be established, and young people in your school will have the opportunity to benefit from a teacher from another country, bringing a global dimension to everyday life at school.
