Curriculum and theme based study visits

Study visits last for 1-2 weeks, usually out of UK term time. They take place in a range of countries across the world, where you will have a chance to see interesting practice  as well as an opportunity to reflect on your own. These visits enable you to experience what can often be a very different education system and culture, and bring a global dimension back to your classroom through your experience and the lasting connections between schools and teachers which can result.

Visits are either related to the curriculum e.g. the teaching of mathematics, or thematic e.g. successful provision for gifted and talented young people. There is also the possibility to take part in visits which have the general theme of Learning and Teaching, or the Global Dimension.

Study visits normally take place in a small group, and the programme includes visits to a range of schools and other appropriate organisations depending on the theme. There is some flexibility depending on your particular interests, and in all cases we will try to ensure that you are able to see the age range you teach at some point during the visit. There is also the opportunity to see something of the culture of the country you are visiting, and collect artifacts and resources to take back home.

All participants on study visits are invited to join our ‘Global teachers’ network’ which includes teachers from host countries.
